One of the most frustrating failures we faced early on was with tooling development. Production suppliers, often tasked with developing tooling in-house or outsourcing it to their sub-suppliers, frequently caused significant delays. This fragmented approach led to endless follow-ups, missed deadlines, and critical project setbacks. The lack of accountability in the process was undeniable, and the ripple effect of these delays damaged not just timelines but also client trust.
Through this frustration, we recognized a fundamental truth: to fix the process, we needed to own it. This realization led to the creation of our Tooling Lifecycle Management (VITLM) system—a process designed to streamline tooling development by working with dedicated tooling partners. By taking tooling ownership, we’ve eliminated inefficiencies, ensured seamless handovers to production suppliers, and provided clients with the confidence that their tooling is safe and ready for future needs.
Logistics posed another major challenge, especially during the pandemic. Container shortages, unpredictable delays, and endless follow-ups with freight forwarders became a constant headache. Packaging would be completed, only for shipments to be held up because containers weren’t ready or forwarders were running late. These delays taught us the importance of foresight and planning. Today, we book containers well in advance, and by the time packaging is done, our forwarders are ready to pick up materials—no more hold-ups, no more guesswork.
These failures have been instrumental in shaping who we are today. They forced us to dig deep, address root causes, and develop systems that ensure our processes are as reliable as our promises.
